The Bank of Bennington has donated to Neighbor to Neighbor to underwrite a fundraising luncheon featuring bestselling author Archer Mayor. The Neighbor’s Book Luncheon is organized by Neighbor to Neighbor, a local volunteer organization that helps housebound people remain independent, as well as connected to the community. Kate Coss, Executive Director of Neighbor to Neighbor, said “We are extremely grateful for The Bank of Bennington’s support, which enables us organize this wonderful and fun fundraiser.”
Neighbor to Neighbor started out with friendly visits. Now, with 60 active volunteers and over 30,000 volunteer hours since its startup, Neighbor to Neighbor has been able to expand their events and services to cover towns throughout the Manchester area. Services can be shopping trips, transportation, and friendly visits; while events range from shuttle trips to Shelburne Farms, garden tours, and concerts.
Jim Comar, The Bank of Bennington’s Vice President of the Northshire Region, said, “We are honored to support Neighbor to Neighbor in their passion for strengthening and enriching our community.” The only bank headquartered in Bennington County, The Bank of Bennington is a truly local business known for their friendly customer service, financial strength, and volunteerism.
The guest speaker for the luncheon, Archer Mayor of Newfane Vermont, has used his real-life experience as a death investigator and police detective to write several bestselling mystery novels. The Chicago Tribute describes his Joe Gunther series as “the best police procedurals being written in America.” The 25th book in the series will be released just before the luncheon.
The luncheon will be Wednesday, October 8th at the Manchester Country Club. Tickets are $45.00. For additional information, or to purchase a ticket, call Neighbor to Neighbor at (802) 367-7787.
