It has come to our attention that some customers are receiving phone calls that appear on the caller ID to be from The Bank of Bennington. Please note these calls may be fraudulent with the phone number being ‘spoofed’.
Spoofing is when a caller deliberately falsifies the information transmitted to your caller ID display to disguise their identity. Scammers often use spoofing so it appears that an incoming call is coming from a local number, or spoof a number from a company or a government agency that you may already know and trust. If you answer, they use scam scripts to try to steal your money or valuable personal information, which can be used in fraudulent activity.
PLEASE BE CAUTIOUS! No one from The Bank of Bennington will ever contact you and request your account number or PIN information. You will NEVER be asked to transfer money or to test a system. If you are unsure about the legitimacy of a phone call, hang up immediately and call your local branch or our main office at 802-442-8121.
